Netflix’s Raising Dion—a show about Nicole (Alisha Wainwright) and her son Dion (Ja’Siah Young), the latter of whom has superpowers—is coming back this February, and a new trailer hints at what challenges they’ll face.
Based on the trailer, it looks like Dion wants to fight crime in his neighborhood rather than go to school. That’s more than understandable—if I had superpowers I wouldn’t want to go to regular school either! The superpower training he’s getting at a company named Biona, however, isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, even though he has a cool new teacher there. It also looks like there will be a new kid in Dion’s class with some ominous powers of his own.
Intrigued? Here’s Netflix’s official synopsis for Season Two of Raising Dion:
Two years after defeating the Crooked Man (Jason Ritter), Season Two follows Dion as he continues honing his powers with the support of his mom and Tevin (Rome Flynn), his Biona trainer who catches Nicole’s eye. After befriending new student Brayden (Griffin Robert Faulkner)—a fellow powered kid—a series of alarming events unfold, and Dion learns that danger is still looming. Navigating twists, turns, and surprise visitors, Dion and Nicole must prevail again—not just to save themselves, but the entire city of Atlanta.
Raising Dion is based on the eponymous comic book by writer Dennis Liu and illustrator Jason Piperberg. Carol Barbee is the showrunner, and it’s executive produced by Michael B. Jordan, Kenny Goodman, Dennis Liu, Michael Green, Darren Grant, Charles D. King, Poppy Hanks, and Marta Fernández.
The eight-episode second season of Raising Dion will drop on Netflix on February 1, 2022.
